Trump weighs transportation chief candidates, including former Uber executive and GOP lawmakers

WASHINGTON—President-elect Donald Trump is considering several candidates for the role of Transportation Secretary, including former Uber executive Emil Michael and three Republican congressmen: Sam Graves of Missouri, Garret Graves of Louisiana, and Sean Duffy of Wisconsin.

Emil Michael, a technology entrepreneur and Trump donor, is being strongly advocated by tech executives who supported Trump’s campaign. His candidacy has reportedly received backing from Elon Musk, a significant Trump supporter.

Sam Graves and Garret Graves bring extensive experience in transportation and infrastructure, while Sean Duffy, now a Fox News host, offers a media-savvy perspective.

The Department of Transportation, with an annual budget of $110 billion, oversees various sectors, including pipelines, railroads, and aviation, and manages federal funding for infrastructure projects.

The final selection for Transportation Secretary is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
